JULY GOALS 2017 (belated but I’m finally back on track)

Posted July 10, 2017 by Jessica in monthly tbr, Uncategorized / 0 Comments

This post is a lot later than I had anticipated, and I was not going to post it, but since I already have it written, why not!I had a pretty good reading month in June. I read so many good books and finally (hopefully) have established myself on a schedule but I want to actually MAINTAIN that schedule instead of you know… drifting off and forgetting about it? I’ve just been super lazy and sort of unmotivated to really do anything but you know… sometimes you have to push yourself to do things. Also, since I read seven books in June, I think I am going to shoot for eight!

Anyway, I had a pretty good reading month in June.

Last month I didn’t really read all the books I listed on my TBR which leads me to believe that I am a mood reader and makes me wonder why I even post these things, but I figured I’d start listing a FEW of the books I hope to get to even if I squeeze in some that aren’t even listed. So without further ado, these are the books that I would like to read this month!

Now I Rise by Kiersten White
I’m not going to say what this is about because uh, spoilers but this is the second book in the Conquerers Saga. I got an arc of the first book last year and really loved it, so I’m quite excited to see what happens!

A Gathering of Shadows by V.E Schwab
Once again, not giving a synopsis because this IS a sequel in the Shades of Magic trilogy. I adored the first book and can’t wait to dive into the second!

Sandcastle Empire by Kayla Olson
This is a dystopian novel in which a group of people called the Wolfpack runs the earth and you know how dystopian goes, they’re not the good guys and they took everything away from the main character Eden. Refusing to die by the hands of the Wolfpack she escapes to a place called Sanctuary Island which is the only place in the world untouched by the Wolfpack. Things are great on the island, but soon one of Eden’s new friends go missing and the island just might be deadlier than what Eden left behind. I haven’t read a good dystopian novel in a long time, so I’m hoping this will be good!

Roar by Cora Cormack
This takes place in a land ruled by storms and I don’t know, the synopsis is a little confusing to me but I suppose it is about a girl who does not have the magic she needs to protect her people and if she wants that magic she needs to steal it. it sounds super intriguing so I hope to give it a go!

Snow Like Ashes by Sarah Raasch
I haven’t heard very many people talk about this book besides just a few videos on youtube. But what caught my eye are these covers. This seems like it is a story about kingdoms based on seasons? I don’t know but it sounds pretty darn cool.

Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh.
I love Renee’s writing and the worlds she creates. This is SORT of like a Mulan retelling? But not really. I mean it has some Mulan elements in the idea of a woman disguising herself as a man to infiltrate. This is also set in feudal Japan so I can’t wait to see what happens!

Zero Repeat Forever by G.S Prendergast
This is actually an arc that I need to get through ASAP, but I feel like this is another dystopian novel? I am not too sure because I don’t want to give away much but,  from what I have heard this book is a sci-fi Beauty and the Beast retelling which is awesome!

Because You Love to Hate Me by Ameriie
This is the anthology everybody is talking about where a bunch of booktubers collabed with authors and wrote villainy short stories! I adore villains, so I can’t wait to have this!

Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody
I am not exactly sure what this is about, but what I gathered is that it is about a traveling carnival that caters to the strangest dreams and desires. This book just sounds so cool and I can’t wait for this! (i can’t wait for all of these books, to be honest)

Wings Unseen by Rebecca Gomez Farrell
This is actually an arc so I will hopefully prioritize this one above all the other books. I’m not going to lie, the synopsis sounds super confusing and I don’t know how to translate it into words… I mean, I don’t want to just copy and paste the entire thing so here is the link to the Goodreads page!

Ekata: Fall of Darkness by Dominique Law
Another arc that I will hopefully prioritize but… we’ll see. This takes place in a utopian world where violence is unthinkable but our main character Asher, has had visions of darkness since he can remember. When he turns 18, he finds out a prophecy that is a threat to his world as well as earth. This sounds super cool and unique for a dystopian novel, so I can’t wait to dive in!

And as for some blogging/bookstagram goals:

BOOKSTAGRAM

  • Since most of my photos are monthly challenges, I want to start being more…”original” per say. What I mean is that I want to start posting pictures from inspiration and I have zero clues how to word this so hopefully, Y’all understand!
  •  finally changed up my theme for my bookstagram. I had been thinking about it for such a long time but was hesitant and I just decided to finally do it! The photo above is my new theme, and I actually got the background from minibackdrops.com! They provide so many backgrounds and the paper is amazing quality. I suggest you check them out!
  • I also want to be more consistent in my posting, either I’ll post every day or every other day!

BLOGGING

  • I have so many books I need to review as soon as possible, so I do hope to get all of them done this month! At this rate, I am reading more than I can review which honestly isn’t a bad thing.
  • I keep saying I won’t fall off the wagon of blogging, and yet I do it every time. But since school is starting up next month and I want to keep active on this blog, I need to find a set schedule for myself.
  • I also want to start a few discussion posts!

So that’s it for my belated July goals. This month is super busy for me at work, and I realize all of this IS a little ambitious, but, I will do my best!
