MID YEAR FREAK OUT BOOK TAG!!

Posted June 29, 2017 by Jessica in book tags, Uncategorized / 0 Comments

It’s hard to believe that it is already the middle of the year, we’re halfway through 2017! It seems like just yesterday I was writing my 2017 goals back in January and now I am doing this tag. I’ve seen this floating around book tube and I have always wanted to do it, so here we go! This tag was created by Chami at readlikewildfire and Ely at Earl Grey Books!

001. Best book you read so far in 2017?
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. I absolutely loved this book. It was incredibly beautiful and heart-wrenching, it is definitely my favorite read of the year as of yet! Honestly, this was a super hard question because I’ve been loving most of the books I have read! Actually, I can’t just pick one, Wintersong by S Jae Jones is a close tie!
002. Your favorite sequel of the year?
Our Dark Duet by V.E Schwab. She continues to blow me away with her incredible writing and characters, this book wrecked me. I loved it,
003. New release you haven’t read but really want to
Gosh, I have so many new releases I want to read but have not gotten to. The first book in my mind is The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco. I have heard so many amazing things about this book and this cover is one of the most beautiful I have seen. Also The Hate U Give,  Eliza and Her Monsters… half my bookshelf honestly.

004. Your most anticipated release for the second half of the year
I have so many! But the top two that I just cannot wait for is 27 Hours by Trishana Wright and City of Brass by C.K Chakraborty. I have heard raving reviews for 27 Hours and I can’t wait to read it, and the City of Brass sounds phenomenal!

005. Your biggest disappointment
Dark Breaks the Dawn by Sara B. Larson. The cover for this book is stunning, however, the inside… just no. Honestly, this book was so disappointing and I have a full review up on it already if you would like to see more of my reasons why!

006. Your biggest surprise of the year
Queen of Blood by Sarah Beth Durst. After reading Dark Breaks the Dawn I went into this with low expectations and finished it incredibly surprised. I really loved this book and I have a review up for this as well!
007. Favorite new to you or debut author
S Jae Jones. I fell in love with Wintersong. I fell in love with her writing it is just so lush and poetic, I loved it.
008. Your new fictional crush
I feel like I get a new fictional crush everytime I read a new book. But my newest crush is The Goblin King from Wintersong.
009. New favorite character
Champion Ven from Queen of Blood. He is so precious to me, I love him. Literally, though, I have a new favorite character in every book I read.
010. A book that made you cry
Our Dark Duet by V.E Schwab. If you read the book then you know because V.E Schwab literally wrecked us. But it was incredible and sad.
011. Book that made you happy
The Love Interest by Cale Dietrich. It has been a long time since a book has made me laugh. I just absolutely adored this book, it was everything that I wanted it to be.
012. Your favorite book to movie adaptation you’ve seen this year
I actually do not watch a lot of movies and I have not seen any book to movie adaptations this year… I have absolutely no intention to watch any.
013. Your favorite review you have written this year.
I really like the review that I wrote for Dark Breaks the Dawn. It was quite angry because damn it made me MAD and I feel like I effectively got all my feelings out. Even though I am still quite made about this horrid book.
014. The most beautiful book you have gotten or received this year
Greek Mythology by Nathaniel Hawthorne. I have been eyeing this book at Barnes and Noble for a long time and last month I caved and I bought it. The Cover is so beautiful ad it has golden edges.
015. What are some books that you need to read this year.
Everything on my shelf that is unread? I have over 50 books that I own and have not read and honestly, I’m going to try to read all the books I have listed for my book challenges!

 And here is a shelfie!!

LET’S TALK ABOUT MY TBR PILE…

Posted May 18, 2017 by Jessica in book tags, Uncategorized / 0 Comments

Book tags are my favorite types of posts to do and I haven’t done one in so long. I do want to do these more often so I think I will be posting a book tag twice a month on Thursdays or every other Thursday. The video I saw was from bookables and here is the link to her video and the creator of this tag is aperfectioncalledbooks and here is the link to her post!

How do you keep track of your TBR pile?

I am so extra when it comes to doing this! But for starters, I absolutely love making lists. Especially lists about books! As of rightnowI am keeping track of my TBR pile but writing it down in my book journal and tracking it on Goodreads!! Though since I am making changes to my TBR, I definitely need to update the lists!

Is your TBR mostly print or ebook?

I have a few ebooks, but the majority of my TBR consists of print books! A lot of my ebooks are ARCS I have requested and just random books I downloaded from scribd!

How do you determine what book from your TBR pile next?

It depends honestly. As of right now, I am trying to pick books from my reading challenges as well as my TBR’16 challenge. But I usually end up reading new releases because when I get a new release I have to read it right then and there like it can’t wait. Since I am a mood reader, I pick out about ten books each month so I can choose what I want to read!

A book that’s been on your TBR list the longest

The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken. It’s been sitting on my shelf for almost two years and I am hoping to pick it up soon because I’ve heard great things about it. But I’ve also heard some not so great things about the book and I don’t know if I want to fully commit to this series. Honestly, I might just read a chapter or two and see if it grabs me.

A book that’s recently been added to your TBR

I am constantly adding books to my TBR, constantly. But the last one I added was City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty.

A book on your TBR pile strictly because of its beautiful cover

The Barnes and Noble edition of the Illiad/Odyssey. I bought it strictly because of the cover.

A book on your TBR you never plan on reading

Winterspell by Claire Legrand. Once again I’m going to read a chapter or two and see it I like it but at this point, it’s most likely going to be a pass. I should honestly unhaul it at this point.

An unpublished book on your TBR you are excited for

Reign of Serpents by Eleanor Herman! This is probably my most anticipated book of the year, only a month left and I cannot wait to find out what happens!

A book on your TBR everyone has read but you

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. At this point, I feel like this is another series I am probably not going to get to anytime soon? And I sort of feel bad about it because this series is loved by a lot of people, but I just have no motivation to actually start it. Maybe some day. Also, The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas… I feel everyone BUT me has read this and I need to remedy that soon!

A book on your TBR everyone recommends to you

The Mortal Instruments. I read the first two and a half books and everyone keeps telling me to finish the series but I just… have zero motivation or the care to do so.

A book on your TBR you are dying to read

Oh gosh, I don’t even know. Winterson by S.Jae Jones? I heard that this was a Labyrinth retelling and got super excited and I just need to read it ASAP!

How many books are on your TBR shelf

At this point, it is at 70+ books, and these are books that I own. It’s super intimidating and I need to go through the books and see what I do and don’t want, but who has the time for that!

How many books do you own but have yet to read?

A to Z bookish survey

Posted March 23, 2017 by Jessica in book tags, top 10 tuesday, Uncategorized / 0 Comments

I’ve been wanting to do this for some time now because it looks like so much fun to do. So basically for every letter of the alphabet there is a question and there are 26 questions. Without further ado, lets get onto it! Also I am not too sure on who the original creator is so if you know, please tell me!

AUTHOR YOU’VE READ THE MOST BOOKS FROM
Probably Sarah J Maas. She just has so many books out and she has so many more coming out.

BEST SEQUAL EVER
This is a three way tie between A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas, A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir and Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo! I can’t choose just one, I loved all of them.

CURRENTLY READING
I can never just read one book at once and I like having a choice of what I can read and well, I am a mood reader. But at the moment I am reading Frostblood by Elly Blake, King’s Folly by Jill Williamson, and Star Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi… I am actually trying to listen to this on audiobook, but I haven’t really had the time to finish it!

DRINK OF CHOICE WHILE READING
I will drink whatever while I am reading but, I highly prefer to drink either coffee or tea while I am reading!

E-READER OR PHYSICAL BOOK
I used to be so against e-readers! But lately I’ve sort of gotten back into it. Sometimes it’s just so much easier to read on my kindle app on my phone if I am waiting in line or something and I don’t have a physical book with me or can’t carry it.

FICTIONAL CHARACTER YOU PROBABLY WOULD HAVE DATED IN HIGH SCHOOL
Cal Calore from Red Queen. In fact, I would still date him now! But I just love Cal so much, you guys have no idea.

GLAD TO HAVE GAVE THIS BOOK A CHANCE
The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. I hestitated on reading it but, I am so glad I did because I got introduced to such an amazing author!

HIDDEN GEMS
Susan Dennard! I read Truthwitch last year and it was incredible and she is just such a wonderful author and creates such a beautiful world!

IMPORTANT MOMENT IN YOUR READING LIFE
Well, before 2015 I stopped reading as much as I did before and honestly did not collect a lot of books. But I picked up Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige and that book got me back into reading and turned me into the reader I am now! If it wasn’t for that book, then I don’t think I would be here blogging or have a bookstagram or have as many books as I do now. So I’m forever grateful for that book.

JUST FINISHED
Caraval by Stephanie Garber and hopefully by the time this post is up, I will have Frostblood by Elly Blake finished as well!

KINDS OF BOOKS YOU WON’T READ
It is not to say I won’t ever read them, but I generally do not read contemporary or anything that doesn’t have an element of fantasy to it. This isn’t to say that I won’t ever read the genre!

LONGEST BOOK YOU’VE READ
This year? Probably Kings Cage by Victoria Aveyard. I haven’t read anything that is too long as of yet this year.

MAJOR BOOK HANGOVER BECAUSE OF
A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir. After that book I barely read for the next two months because I just could not stop thinking about the book it was that incredible! I’m a little bummed we have to wait until 2018 for the third book, but I know it will be well worth it and I can’t wait to see what Sabaa has in store for us!

NUMBER OF BOOKCASES YOU OWN
As of now, two. One well is medium sized and my other one is large. It’s hard to fit all of my books onto them but I somehow manage! I plan to get new shelves soon so they can match and I can have plenty room!

ONE BOOK YOU’VE READ MULTIPLE TIMES
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I was obsessed with the book when I read it in eight grade!

PREFERRED PLACE TO READ
I can read anywhere, but I definitely prefer to read on my bed surrounded by pillows and blankets!

QUOTE THAT INSPIRES YOU/GIVES YOU ALL THE FEELS FROM A BOOK
“Maybe there were people who lived those lives. Maybe this girl was one of them. But what about the rest of us? What about the nobodies and nothings, the invisible girls? We learn to hold our heads as if we wear crowns. We learn to wring magic from the ordinary. That was how you survived when you weren’t chosen, when there was no royal blood in your viens. When the world owed you nothing, and you demanded something of it anyway.” This is from Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo and this is probably my favorite quote of the series!

READING REGRET
I don’t think I have one just yet.

SERIES YOU STARTED AND NEED TO FINISH (ALL THE BOOKS ARE OUT)
The Young Elites by Marie Lu, The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare (I am debating on if I should finish this honestly), Dorothy must die series by Danielle Paige (also debating on if I should finish this)

THREE OF YOUR ALL TIME FAVORITE BOOKS
The Song of Achilles by Marissa Meyer, Vicious by V.E Schwab and An Ember in the Ashes series by Sabaa Tahir.

UNAPOLOGETIC FANGIRL
I am not sure what this means exactly but I guess I’ll talk about my bookish merch? I will buy merch for whatever series I am obssessed with and the characters that I love!

VERY EXCITED FOR THIS RELEASE MORE THAN ALL THE OTHERS
Reign of Serpents by Eleanor Herman! I absolutely LOVE this series! It’s a historical fantasy about Alexander the Great and it is so good! I am highly anticipating this book!

WORST BOOKISH HABIT
Buying the entire series before I read the first book. Because sometimes I end up not even liking the book and then I regret the fact that I bought the entire series because I spent money on something I hated. So yeah, I need to fix this habit but it’s hard to.

X MARKS THE SPOT: START AT THE TOP OF YOUR SHELF, PICK 27TH
Currently, the 27th book on my shelf is The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh.

YOUR LATEST BOOKISH PURCHASE
Well I bought quite a few bookish… things. Books I just bought are Wires and Nerve by Marissa Meyer and Wintersong by S. Jae Jones. I also bought two candles from themugglelibrary and a uh, Rhysand letter from bookified.

ZZZ SNATCHER: BOOK THAT KEPT YOU UP WAY TOO LATE
So many! I can’t even write an appropriate answer to this!

So that is the end of the tag and if you are reading this, you’re tagged!

Anticipated Releases 2017 Spring edition

Posted March 17, 2017 by Jessica in book tags, Uncategorized / 2 Comments

Yes, it is spring! And so many amazing books are coming out during the season, I can’t express how excited I am! I will give a short background on the book as well as the dates it is published! Also as far as I know, Spring starts March 20 and ends June 20, correct me if I am wrong but that is what i am going off of. Also, a lot of these I am actually reading the full summary for the first time.

MARCH

Stranger and the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. This comes out on the 28.
Okay well, now that I read the sypnosis of this it actually sounds a little but confusing, but I do know it has something to do with dreams and it just sounds so interesting and unique that I can’t wait to find out if it lives to the hype!

Blood Rose Rebellion by Rosalyn Eves. This comes out on the 28.
This is about a girl who has some sort of ability that can break a spell that holds her worlds social order in place. This is apparently for fans of Red Queen which I loved, so I supposed I would like this book.

APRIL

Spindle Fire by Lexa Hillyer. Out on 4/11.
This is a retelling of Sleeping Beauty which I honestly have never read a retelling of Sleeping Beauty so this automatically intrigued me. This is about two sisters Isabelle and Aurora who had something taken from them. One day everything changes with the drop of Aurora’s blood. I honestly hope this is as good as it sounds.

Given to the Sea by Mindy McGinnis. Out on 4/11.
Possibly my most anticipated read for April. This is about a girl named Khosa who was Given to the Sea. I suppose she is supposed… okay as I am reading this summary I am a little confused, my gosh. Anyway it sounds really unique and cool so I can’t wait to read it.
Alex and Eliza by Melissa De LaCruz. Out on 4/11

A YA ‘retelling’ inspired by Hamilton. You have no idea how much I need this in my life. I don’t read contemporaries but this will be an exception because I just need it.

MAY

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas. Out on 5/2
This is the third book in the ACOTAR trilogy and probably my most anticipated book of the year. I am a little terrified for what might happen and just… pray all my favorites can live happily ever after.

Flame and Mist by Renee Ahdieh. Out on 5/2
For some reason, this gives me major Mulan vibes. But this is about a girl named Mariko who may or may not be an accomplised alchemist.

Dreamfall by Amy Plum. Out on 5/2
This is about a girl named Cata who suffers from debilitating insomnia, and she agrees to take part in a experimental procedure. There is a malfunction and Cata and the others who were taking part in the experiment are put into a dreamworld. They have no idea how they got there and worse, they are being hunted by creatures from their darkest imaginations. This just sounds so cool and creepy and I need more books like this in my life.

The Love Interest by Cale Dietrich. Out on 5/16
I saw this on netgalley and gosh darn it, I really wish I requested this now that I fully know what it is about. This is about a secret organization that cultivates teen spies. It is about two boys, One named Caden who is the literal boy next door who is sculpted to physical perfection. Dylan is a the bad boy. Dark, brooding, dark souled and dangerously handsome. And they are competing for a girl. Right now, this book sounds like a huge cliche and trope, but what makes this different is that Caden and Dylan end up falling for each other.

Royal Bastards by Andrew Schvarts. Out on 5/30
I was lucky enough and super grateful to get an arc of this and I need to read it soon. But this is about a girl named Tila who is well, a bastard. This book is sort of hard to summarize, so read the description because it sounds so cool!

JUNE

The Hundredth Queen by Emily R. King. Out on 6/1
This is about a girl named Kalinda who is an orphan ward of the sisterhood. One day she is ripped from her home from the Rajah Tarek and is told she has to fight for her place among the Rajah’s nine-nine wives. This just sounds super interesting and I can’t wait to read it!

Song of the Current by Sarah Tolcser. Out on 6/6
I saw this going around on twitter and it sounded so cool. This is about a girl named Caroline who is destined for the river and that is honestly all I really know about it!

Dividing Eden by Joelle Charbonneu. Our on 6/6
This is about twins named Carys and Andreus who after the murder of the king and the crown prince, they are thrust into a trial of succession to see who is fit enough to rule Eden. This just sounds so intriguing and I’m just super excited to read it!

So those are my anticipated reads for the Spring season! I will most likely add more to this list because I love finding new books!

Bookmas tag!

Posted December 24, 2016 by Jessica in book tags / 0 Comments

Hello and Merry Christmas Eve! Do people even say Merry Christmas Eve? Because no one I know does. Anyway, Christmas is my favorite holiday after Halloween and I can’t believe it is already the end of the year, I am sort of sad but grateful for it.

Since it’s a holiday, I decided to celebrate by doing a tag. As the title states, this is the bookmas tag created by SophiesSeries and here is the link to her video and I highly recommend you to check it out!

001. The Lovebirds: Which two characters would you like to see under the mistletoe?

Ooh, okay. This is a hard question. Because there are a lot of characters I would like to just KISS already. But I am going to go with Nikolai Lantsov and Alina Starkov from the Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. No spoilers, but if You have already read this series then you know. I am forever bitter about it.

002. The Mismatched: Which pair of unlikely characters would get stuck under the mistletoe and it would be totally awkward.

Which pair of unlikely characters? Hm, I don’t know— yet again this is another hard question to answer, but I am going to go with Thorne and Jacin from the Lunar Chronicles?

003. The Grinch: Which character would spend the entire day with his face in a knot.

For me without a doubt, Rowan Whitethorn from Throne of Glass.

004. The naughty list: which character has angered so many people he would have less Christmas presents under the tree.

Maven Calore from Red Queen. He would most likely get a lump of coal because he has done horrible things and he has pissed so many people off.

005. The fraud: which character would assign a fake date to bring to the gathering

Evangeline Samos from Red Queen. I feel like she would be the type that would not want to go to the gathering without anyone by her side— mostly because I don’t know, everyone else is with someone?

006. The caroler: which character would people have to yell at to stop singing Christmas songs?

All I can think of is Chaol Westfall from Throne of Glass. I am sure he would like Christmas, but there is only so much singing he could take.

007.  The klutz: which character would knock over the Christmas tree.

I feel like Alina Starkov would do this. I don’t know, she seems like sort of a klutz?

008. The snooper: which character would ruin all of the surprises by trying to figure out what the gifts are.

Hands down, Celaena Sardothien.

Alright this concludes the bookmas tag! If you are reading this, you are tagged! I hope you all have a Happy Holidays!

Hamilton book tag!

Posted November 3, 2016 by Jessica in book tags, Uncategorized / 0 Comments

tag-thurs

I am sure that everyone has heard of the amazing broadway hit Hamilton and I am unapologetically obsessed with it. Anyway this tag was created by Maureen Keavy from booktube.

THE ROOM WHERE IT HAPPENSA book world you would like to live in.

‘Oh, I’ve got to be in the room where it happens, the room where happens, the room where it happens’

This is a lot of peoples answer to this question, but I would probably want to live in the Harry Potter world! Or Velaris from A Court of Mist and fury because A) Rhys, B) It’s beautiful, C) RHYS.

THE SCHUYLER SISTERSA female character that is underrated.

‘We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal. And when I meet Thomas Jefferson I’m gonna compel him to include women in the sequal’

There are so many underrated female characters, but I’m going with Sorscha from Heir of Fire by Sarah J Maas, BECAUSE OF REASONS. No seriously, I feel she is seriously underrated in comparison to some of the other female charaters.

MY SHOTA character who doesn’t let anyone get in the way of what they want.

‘I am not throwing away my shot, I am not throwing away my shot!’

Okay this guy is literally my favorite villain of all time He is so well written and evil, I love him and I will not apologize for it. He is such a remarkable villain in my opinion because if he wants something he goes after it damn the consequences or fallout. He does not hesitate to say what he wants and he will risk anything and possibly everything for power, and that is Gaius Damora from Falling Kingdoms.

STAY ALIVEA character you wish could stay alive.

‘Stay Alive… Stay alive.’

Will Herondale, duh.

BURNSaddest end to a relationship you’ve ever read.

‘With only the memories of when you were mine’

Will and Tessa of course, I mean they were together till the end, but Will’s death -sobs- I will never be over that at all. Will’s death marked the end of their relationship and it made me so sad like why.

YOU’LL BE BACKThe sassiest villain

‘You’ll be back, soon you’ll see. You remember you belong to me.’

THE DARKLING! Another great villain. Read Grisha trilogy and find out 😉 😉

THE REYNOLDS PAMPHLETA book you did not see the ending coming.

‘That’s one less thing to worry about.’

Queen of Shadows, there were some plot twists that I didn’t see coming and they made me really happy. Also Red Queen like… that was such a huge plot twist, I can’t even with it! Also the bit with Illuminae. If you’ve read it, you know.

NON-STOP – series that you marathoned.

‘Man the man is non-stop!’

Grisha Trilogy, Falling Kingdoms and Infernal Devices, The Winners Trilogy. I read and read and read those books in order until I was finished with them, it was hard to put it down.

SATISFIEDFavorite books with multiple points of views.

Okay, I love + prefer books with more than one point of view because it adds so much more to the story. Just to name a few… Throne of Glass obviously. Legend of Kings… there is a lot of POV’s here, but they are all wonderful, Falling Kingdoms, Infernal Devices, Wrath + the Dawn, Ember in the Ashes, The Lunar Chronicles and Illuminae.

WHO LIVES WHO DIES WHO TELLS YOUR STORY – A book series that will live throughout history.

Without a doubt it will always be Harry Potter.

VILLAIN SQUAD BOOK TAG

Posted October 6, 2016 by Jessica in book tags, Uncategorized / 0 Comments

tag

This book tag was made for me okay, I love villains so much and in my opinion, books would not be a good book with at least a good villain. I am not entirely sure who created this nor was I tagged— I just really wanted to do this tag.

oo1: the leader – villain to lead the squad

I WAS going to say Kaz Brekker because he is fabulous but he is not really a villain, so I am going to go with The Darkling! He has experience in leading people and he is just so great okay.

002: killer smile – villain who is extremely attractive

I hate this character more than anything, but I imagine he would be good looking because he is a prince. So I am going with Maven Calore from Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard!

003: loose canon – villain who marches to the beat of their own drum

This is from a TV show, but I am going with Klaus Mikaelson from Vampire Diaries/Originals. He does what he wants when he wants and does not care for the consequences. He follows no rules but his own and holds grudges like no other. In my opinion he was the best villain Vampire Diaries ever had and no one can dethrone him.

004: unhinged one – villain who isn’t playing with a full deck

Levana from Lunar Chronicles. She is obviously a crazy B word. She is literally insane but I think that is what made her as great of a villain as she was.

005: The Redeemer – on a path to redemption/would play both sides.

Gaius Damora from the Falling Kingdoms series by Morgan Rhodes for sure. After Frozen Tides I am sort of curious to see how his arc is going to play out. I am hoping he decides to help his son out and atone for all his horrible deeds. But he would so play both sides to get what he desires. Honestly he would kill the leader and take over the squad.

006: evil one – bad to the bone.

Maeve from Empire of Storms. Not going into this one okay, if you have read it… then you know.

oo7: once was good – villain who did not start out as a villain

I AM CHEATING AND SAYING THE DARKLING… AGAIN.

There you have it! My very own Villain squad and if you are reading this, you are tagged!

YOU’RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH BOOK TAG

Posted September 29, 2016 by Jessica in book tags / 0 Comments

tag

I have had this sitting in my google docs forever with every intention to publish it, but I kept forgetting. I saw this on Chami (readlikewifefire’s) book tube channel and I guess you’re supposed to do it with two people? I don’t know I thought it would be fun to do myself and put up my results for you guys!

The idea of this tag is to put around thirty character names in a jar (make sure it is an even amount) Pick out two for each question that deals with a certain scenario and you choose who would be better or… choose who would win in that scenario.

ONE: You have one spot on your spelling bee team, who would you pick to compete on your team?

So I picked out Mare Barrow from Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard and Feyre from ACOTAR by Sarah J Maas. This is sort of hard because I’m not sure how good of a speller Mare would be since she grew up very poor… but she did go to school. And Feyre was learning how to reward when she came to Prythian. I think post ACOMAF she’d be a good speller, but to be safe I would definitely pick Mare.

TWO: Both characters want to kill you, which one would you kill first so you have a better chance of surviving?

I picked out Will Herondale from The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare and Azriel from ACOMAF by Sarah J Maas. These answers make me sad because I love them and I wouldn’t want to kill them, like ever. Like this is so evil. Will is pretty good at fighting I mean he is a demon hunter, but Azriel… yeah, he’s pretty intense. I would kill Azriel first, if I ever got the chance to do it -.- because I’m sure he would sense me 10 miles away.

THREE: You’re on the bachelor/bachelorette and you’re down to two characters, which one are you going to give your rose to?

I picked out Lucien from ACOTAR and Dorian from the Throne of Glass series, both by Sarah J Maas. I love Lucien, but sorry dude, no rose for you. Dorian all the way. Dorian deserves all the roses because I love him to pieces okay. My sweet baby Dorian.

FOUR: You’ve been chosen for the Hunger Games, who would most likely volunteer in your place?

I picked out Rowan and Chaol both from Throne of Glass series, omg this is super hard, because I feel like both would volunteer. And depends how they both feel about me too. I mean if it were Dorian we all know Chaol would volunteer right away, but I think I’d go with Rowan, he seems more…. Likely to volunteer? I also don’t want Chaol to volunteer because I love him and I don’t want him to die.

FIVE: You’re stranded on an island, which character would you sacrifice to engage in cannibalism?

I picked out Gaius Damora from the Fallen Kingdoms series and Kaz Brekker from Six of Crows, this is quite obvious to anyone who has read the Fallen Kingdoms, but I would pick Gaius because he is quite evil and I feel he try to kill me first so… yeah, better to get him out of the way. Plus I love Kaz, I could not eat him.

SIX: You’re the next DC/Marvel superhero! (with your own tv show of course) who would you pick as your sidekick?

I picked out Jace Herondale from Mortal Instruments and Elias Veturius from An Ember in the Ashes. I feel like Jace wouldn’t do well as a sidekick, he’d take over, so I’d pick Elias… also because I love Elias, he’s also probably trained better. Also Elias wouldn’t be my sidekick, he’d be my companion.

SEVEN: You’re a manager of an avocado admiring company, who would you fire for lack of communication skills?

I picked out Rhysand and Manon, both from the world of Sarah J Maas! Sorry Manon, but… you’re fired! She doesn’t seem like the type who would communicate well with people so she’d be gone in an instant, Rhys on the other hand, whew, I’m sure that man could sweet talk his way to everything, he is such a charmer, He’d do well with all the customers.

EIGHT: You’ve just finished a book in which your favorite character dies, who is there to comfort you?

I picked out Cassian from ACOMAF and Merik from Truthwitch, I love both to pieces and Cassian is nice and all, but I think Merik would be more likely to comfort me. Or actually both, both is good. We’ll be a sandwich.

NINE: UGH, it’s high school. Who would most likely be apart of the popular clique?

I picked out Magnus Damora from Fallen Kingdoms and Aelin from Throne of Glass, both have a good shot and would most likely be popular but if I had to pick one hands down, We all know it’s Aelin, like she would rule the school.

TEN: The day has arrived! Who has the NERVE to forget your birthday?!

I picked out Tessa Gray from Infernal Devices and Nikolai Lantsov from Grisha Trilogy. My baby Nikolai would forget, but its okay… I’ll forgive him because he’s a king, he has a bunch of important stuff to do more than remember my birthday.

ELEVEN: You’ve just found an upcoming booktube star! Who is that star?

I picked out AIDAN from Illuminae and the Darkling from Grisha Trilogy. This is hard, well AIDAN is a computer, so I feel like Darkling would do great because of his IRRESISTIBLE charm. Plus he’d be super organized and put a whole bunch of effort into it because he strikes me as a perfectionist.

TWELVE: SLEEPOVER! Unfortunately you can only invite one person, who is it?

I picked out Tamlin from ACOTAR and Helene Acquilla from An Ember in the Ashes… I would choose Helene because I would rather die than invite Tamlin.

THIRTEEN: BAM! You’re pregnant! Who is the father/mother?

I picked out Aedion from Throne of Glass and Cal Calore from Red Queen! I love love Aedion and he would be a great father, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVEEE CAL, he is my ultimate book husband okay, so he would be the father of my child.

FOURTEEN: You’ve just written a super important text, whou would ‘see’ it but not reply?

I picked out Jem Carstairs from Infernal Devices and Amren from ACOMAF. Jem would never ignore a text from me okay, he’s sweet, kind, adorable, he is a cinnamon roll. Amren on the other hand? She would 100% not reply. Probably roll her eyes as well.

FIFTEEN: You’ve just woken up and its time for breakfast, you’re mom’s been replaced by?

I picked out Maven Calore from Red Queen and Khalid from Wrath and the Dawn. I hate Maven plus I feel he’d probably try to poison me so I’m going with Khalid.
So, that’s it for the book tag! If you’re reading this, you’re tagged!

Unpopular Bookish Opinions!

Posted March 30, 2016 by Jessica in book tags / 1 Comment

I’ve seen this a lot on booktube and thought that it would be a blast to do this! This topic is quite controversial and I want to start off with a disclaimer… please know that these are my opinions and mine alone, you may not agree with me but that’s okay! We have different opinions! That’s okay! You’re more than welcome to tell me you disagree with my opinion and that’s perfectly fine, I’d love to see yours! The creator of this tag is thebookarcher, check her channel out!

Number one: A popular book or series that you did not like.

Ooo, okay this is a little hard because I don’t really dislike any of the popular series OR I have yet to read a lot of others, but if I had to choose I would say…

Vampire Academy series. I am neutral to this book. I don’t care for the characters (besides Christian) or the romances. I don’t think the plot is ENTIRELY unique. I mean… I guess it’s because I’m over the whole vampire genre and I am not interested in it anymore. Regardless how I feel about this series, I will finish it to the bitterest of ends. Just not any time soon, it’s not on my list of books I HAVE to read ASAP. It’s probably the last ten percent of books I will read on my TBR.

Number two: A popular book or series that everyone else seems to hate but you love.

For this I will have to go with the Beautiful Creatures series. I’ve seen so many people disliking this series and I completely understand where this is coming from, but I love Ethan Lawson Wate to pieces and just… I love Amma. But also, this was a series that really got me back into reading after Harry Potter and it will always have a special place in my heart.

Number three: A love triangle where the main character ended up with the person you did NOT want them to end up with or an OTP you do not like.

So for this one, I am actually doing both of these because well… I can. Please beware, THERE ARE SPOILERS HERE.

An OTP I just really, really dislike is Mare and Maven from the Red Queen series. I see their potential if ya know, the thing didn’t happen. But how people can say Maven is good for her, uh hah! No, that boy better stay far away from her.

A love triangle… I don’t know if you would call this a love triangle, but I just REALLY really wanted Alina Starkov to end up with Nikolai Lantsov.

Number four: A popular book genre you hardly reach for.

I hardly… well, I have not read a contemporary book since I first read Pretty Little Liars, and I stopped after like the first half of the book because it didn’t interest me.. I don’t know, the genre just isn’t my cup of tea. But I am making it a goal to at least read some contemporary books this year since I decided to buy some. We’ll see how that goes! Maybe I’ll read them during summer since it just seems like the time to read these types of books.

Number five: A popular or beloved character that you just do not like.

I don’t really have a lot of popular or beloved characters people love that I hate, except one.  Maven from Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. I’m not even sorry that I do not like him. I might be biased because I love Cal, so much, he is just… I love him so much. But I do not see  the appeal in him, at all.  I don’t understand why people think he is so innocent ESPECIALLY after Glass Sword. Just no.

Number six: A popular author you just can’t seem to get into.

Ahhh! Please don’t me for this, but I just can’t seem to get into Jennifer L. Armentrout. I have the LUX series, but I just can’t get into it. Perhaps one day I will pick it up.

Number Seven: A popular book trope you are tired of seeing.

I am so so so tired of love triangles. I see them so many times, they’re quite cliche’d and useless. Like why can’t the person just have one person or no one at all?? And there is the evil villain and a  girl who is brought in to redeem them. Can’t they just… don’t do that?

Number Eight: A popular series you have no interest in reading.

I’m going to have to go with the LUX series. From what I see, this series is VERY loved by a lot of people, but it’s… it’s just not for me, night right now, Like I said earlier, maybe sometime in the future I will give it a go, but for now I am going to pass.

Number Nine: The saying goes ‘The book is always better than the movie’ but what move or T.V show adaptation do you prefer more than the book?

I have to say the 100. I actually watched the show first and I tried to read the books, but I failed and could barely make it through the first and I unhauled the series because I never plan to read it. I enjoy the show a heck of a lot more and think it is a lot better than the books! I will continue with the show, but not with the books.

As you can see I got lazy and didn’t put anymore photos. I don’t mean to offend anyone with my views! And if you’d like comment and tell me some of your unpopular opinions!
