I can already tell that this month is going to be an amazing month. School has started and I think I am finally on a schedule, there are so many good books that are releasing, AND I am starting to plan my book. Yes, I am writing a book. So now that school has started, I sincerely doubt that I will be able to read as much as I did this summer, but if anything I am going to aim to read four or five books. I don’t want to overwhelm myself, but at the same time… there are so many good books I NEED to read!

As usual, I am listing several books here, but I love to give myself options. The first two are books I am definitely going to be reading.

A Conjuring of Light by V.E Schwab
Tower of Dawn by Sarah J Maas
The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner
The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima
Girls Made of Snow and Glass by Melissa Bashardoust
Even the Darkest Stars by Heather Fawcett

As for blogging, I hope to actually post all the topics and reviews I want to post. I’ve even started outlining some or well… all of them, actually. So hopefully that will give me a head start as I am starting school! What books do you plan to read this month?

I have seriously been slacking with my goals. I post them with every intention of doing them, yet for some dang reason I completely get uninspired and do absolutely nothing. I’m going to change a few things around here because I’ve just felt very… blah. I feel like my anxiety has been a huge factor in this. A big thing I want to do is be a lot more organized than I am right now especially when it comes to my blog. I will definitely… probably be posting something about that sometime in the future so stay tuned!

So this month is very ambitious because I feel like it is the last month that I can read as much as I want because school starts very soon. I am also switching things up this month and I aim to read only arcs. With that, I have decided to participate in ARCAugust hosted by readsleeprepeat because y’all… I have a lot of arcs I need to read ASAP and I feel like this will motivate me.

So without further ado, let’s get onto the list! Last month I read nine books, I’m going to be a little beside myself and aim to finish 10 books, but I at LEAST want to read 5 (hopefully the majority will be arcs) I aim to read whichever is closest to the publishing date.

Mask of Shadows by Linsey Miller: published 9/5/17
Zero Repeat Forever by Gabrielle Prendergast: published 8/29/17
Ekata: Fall of Darkness by Dominique Law: published 8/18/17
When I Cast Your Shadow by Sarah Porter: published 9/12/17
Achilles by Greg Boose: published 9/26/17
Odd & True by Cat Winters: published 9/17/17
Rosemarked by Livia Blackburn: published 11/7/17
Last Star Burning by Caitlin Sangster: published 10/10/17
The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell
The Wood by Chelsea Bobulski

Now if by some miracle I manage to finish ALL of these, I just might cry.

Don’t forget to comment below and tell me what are some books you’re planning to read this month?

JULY GOALS 2017 (belated but I’m finally back on track)

This post is a lot later than I had anticipated, and I was not going to post it, but since I already have it written, why not!I had a pretty good reading month in June. I read so many good books and finally (hopefully) have established myself on a schedule but I want to actually MAINTAIN that schedule instead of you know… drifting off and forgetting about it? I’ve just been super lazy and sort of unmotivated to really do anything but you know… sometimes you have to push yourself to do things. Also, since I read seven books in June, I think I am going to shoot for eight!

Anyway, I had a pretty good reading month in June.

Last month I didn’t really read all the books I listed on my TBR which leads me to believe that I am a mood reader and makes me wonder why I even post these things, but I figured I’d start listing a FEW of the books I hope to get to even if I squeeze in some that aren’t even listed. So without further ado, these are the books that I would like to read this month!

Now I Rise by Kiersten White
I’m not going to say what this is about because uh, spoilers but this is the second book in the Conquerers Saga. I got an arc of the first book last year and really loved it, so I’m quite excited to see what happens!

A Gathering of Shadows by V.E Schwab
Once again, not giving a synopsis because this IS a sequel in the Shades of Magic trilogy. I adored the first book and can’t wait to dive into the second!

Sandcastle Empire by Kayla Olson
This is a dystopian novel in which a group of people called the Wolfpack runs the earth and you know how dystopian goes, they’re not the good guys and they took everything away from the main character Eden. Refusing to die by the hands of the Wolfpack she escapes to a place called Sanctuary Island which is the only place in the world untouched by the Wolfpack. Things are great on the island, but soon one of Eden’s new friends go missing and the island just might be deadlier than what Eden left behind. I haven’t read a good dystopian novel in a long time, so I’m hoping this will be good!

Roar by Cora Cormack
This takes place in a land ruled by storms and I don’t know, the synopsis is a little confusing to me but I suppose it is about a girl who does not have the magic she needs to protect her people and if she wants that magic she needs to steal it. it sounds super intriguing so I hope to give it a go!

Snow Like Ashes by Sarah Raasch
I haven’t heard very many people talk about this book besides just a few videos on youtube. But what caught my eye are these covers. This seems like it is a story about kingdoms based on seasons? I don’t know but it sounds pretty darn cool.

Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh.
I love Renee’s writing and the worlds she creates. This is SORT of like a Mulan retelling? But not really. I mean it has some Mulan elements in the idea of a woman disguising herself as a man to infiltrate. This is also set in feudal Japan so I can’t wait to see what happens!

Zero Repeat Forever by G.S Prendergast
This is actually an arc that I need to get through ASAP, but I feel like this is another dystopian novel? I am not too sure because I don’t want to give away much but,  from what I have heard this book is a sci-fi Beauty and the Beast retelling which is awesome!

Because You Love to Hate Me by Ameriie
This is the anthology everybody is talking about where a bunch of booktubers collabed with authors and wrote villainy short stories! I adore villains, so I can’t wait to have this!

Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody
I am not exactly sure what this is about, but what I gathered is that it is about a traveling carnival that caters to the strangest dreams and desires. This book just sounds so cool and I can’t wait for this! (i can’t wait for all of these books, to be honest)

Wings Unseen by Rebecca Gomez Farrell
This is actually an arc so I will hopefully prioritize this one above all the other books. I’m not going to lie, the synopsis sounds super confusing and I don’t know how to translate it into words… I mean, I don’t want to just copy and paste the entire thing so here is the link to the Goodreads page!

Ekata: Fall of Darkness by Dominique Law
Another arc that I will hopefully prioritize but… we’ll see. This takes place in a utopian world where violence is unthinkable but our main character Asher, has had visions of darkness since he can remember. When he turns 18, he finds out a prophecy that is a threat to his world as well as earth. This sounds super cool and unique for a dystopian novel, so I can’t wait to dive in!

And as for some blogging/bookstagram goals:

  • Since most of my photos are monthly challenges, I want to start being more…”original” per say. What I mean is that I want to start posting pictures from inspiration and I have zero clues how to word this so hopefully, Y’all understand!
  •  finally changed up my theme for my bookstagram. I had been thinking about it for such a long time but was hesitant and I just decided to finally do it! The photo above is my new theme, and I actually got the background from! They provide so many backgrounds and the paper is amazing quality. I suggest you check them out!
  • I also want to be more consistent in my posting, either I’ll post every day or every other day!

  • I have so many books I need to review as soon as possible, so I do hope to get all of them done this month! At this rate, I am reading more than I can review which honestly isn’t a bad thing.
  • I keep saying I won’t fall off the wagon of blogging, and yet I do it every time. But since school is starting up next month and I want to keep active on this blog, I need to find a set schedule for myself.
  • I also want to start a few discussion posts!

So that’s it for my belated July goals. This month is super busy for me at work, and I realize all of this IS a little ambitious, but, I will do my best!

I can’t believe it’s June, where is the year going?

I’m finally out of school and have the time to read when I want so I am hoping to put a dent into my reading challenges this month! But before I get into my goals for the month, I want to sort out some housekeeping issues. I am changing the way I do my reviews. Instead of doing it like I used to, like… separating it by sections I’m just going do it as ‘Gripes’ which are obviously things I didn’t like and then Likes, talking about things I loved!

I am also doing a recommendation series where instead of picking a genre and recommending books from said genre, I’m going to pick a book and explain all the reasons why you should read it! My monthly unboxings will also be posted during the first or second week of the following month, for example, May’s unboxing will be posted sometime within the next week.

Objectives for the month:
Read five or more books.
Catch up on reading goals.
Keep up with blogging.

Now for my TBR! Once again, ambitious but I want to give myself a range to choose from!
A Gathering of Shadows by V.E Schwab
A Conjuring of Light by V.E Schwab
Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia
Our Dark Duet by V.E Schwab
God of War by Christain Cameron
Dark Breaks the Dawn by Sarah B. Larson
Reign of Serpents by Eleanor Herman

Considering the sizes of some of those books, my TBR is incredibly ambitious. But these are the books that I plan to choose from! But I will aspire to read all of these! Fingers crossed!

What books do you plan to read this month?

April Goals 2017

It literally feels just like yesterday that I posted my goals for March. Like what is going on here? The time is flying by like crazy and I am oddly okay with that. I also only have a month and a half until school is out and I am so excited because I can finally read more!

Objectives for this month:

Read proposed books on TBR.
Hopefully read one book a week.
Write a review for every book I read. (I do want to start doing more reviews for other than just new releases)

My TBR is once again a little ambitious, but I am a mood reader and this gives me a good selection of books to choose from!

The Stranger and the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas (re-read)
Kings Folly by Jill Williamson
The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco
Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin
A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E Schwab
Wintersong by S. Jae Jones
Wires and Nerve by Marissa Meyer

I also have some arcs that are due soon and I HOPE to get to them this month. If I can, the arcs I plan to read are:

Descendants by Rae Else which is out on April 12.
Crown of Ice by Vicki L Weavil which is out May 9
A Face like Glass by Francis Hardringe which is out May 9

So yep. A very ambitious tbr. But I was quite lazy last month and I feel like if I read instead of just sitting here and doing nothing, I could put a decent dent in my TBR! This is also the last month of school and it will be busy and I know that I won’t read all of these books this month but… I hope to at least get to four or five of them and this is the list that I plan to read from unless I pick up some ebooks!

March goals 2017

I can’t believe it is already March, like where is all this time going?? But at the same time I am glad it is March because that means it’s a little closer to June and my most anticipated read releases in June so I am counting down the days. Anyway, spring break is this month for me so I made my TBR a little ambitious. I’m hoping to at least stick to this one, but seeing as if I am a mood reader… we’ll see in my monthly wrap-up if I was able to stick to it.

Caraval by Stephanie Garber. This book is so hyped up okay, so I am definitely going into this with a lot of expectations.

Frostblood by Elly Blake. This has been on my TBR for the past two months and I just haven’t picked it up so I am hoping that March will be the time I can read this!

Mark of the Thief by Jennifer Nielson. I want to read everything and anything about Ancient Roman and Greek history and this also sounds up my ally.

The Valiant by Lindsey Livingston. I also meant to read this in February, I just had no time to do so. But I’ve heard great things about this one!

Kings Folly by Jill Williamson. Nothing like some good old high fantasy.

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas. Yes this is a re-read, but I am re-reading it because I’m doing my term paper for my fiction and novel in society class on this book.

The Third Twin by C.J Omololu. I picked this up on a whim, and it’s relatively short. I am hoping to get to this.

A Face like Glass by Francis Hardringe. This is an arc from netgalley that I hope to have read by May since it publishes in May.

So that’s my TBR for this month. I hope to at least stick to it because I rarely ever do.

February Goals 2017

So many good books are coming out this month I am so excited. I am most likely not going to be reading as much as I did last month but I am going to aim for at least four or five books. There are some books that I am FOR SURE going to read this month, but these are the books that I will be choosing from. I also… kind of fell of the wagon for posting at the end of January. I am putting myself back on track for February!

Kings Cage by Victoria Aveyard

Empress of a Thousand Skies by Rhoda Belleza

Frostblood by Elly Blake

Passenger by Alexandra Bracken

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

The Valiant by Lesley Livingston

Heart of the Storm by Michael Buckley

January Goals 2017

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I am so happy that 2017 has finally arrived because I can already tell that it is going to be a great year filled with exciting things! I have a lot of brand new things planned for this blog (which will be explained in another post so stay tuned for that) So without further ado, onto the goals!

I plan to participate in the Bout of Books 18 read-a-thon which takes place January 1 – January 8) I’m not sure how well I will do with this because I am sometimes a slow reader, but I am going to try to read two or three books in the span of one week. (We’ll see how this goes)

books to read:

Windwitch by Susan Dennard
Burning Sky by Sherry Thomas
Rose Society by Marie Lu
The Demon King by Cinda Willams Chima
Star Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi
The Witch Hunter by Virginia Boecker
Frostblood by Elly Blake

I am sure this will change dramatically, but I at least want to read four of the books on this list! Have you read any of these books? What dd you think about them?

December tbr

So last month I was unfortunately unable to keep up with my TBR list, but it was a busy month because school and I had a ton of assignments due. I only have two more weeks left and then I am on winter break! So I plan to read a ton this month in HOPES of catching up with my goodreads goal but if I get to the point where I know I won’t meet it, I will lower my number because I don’t want to rush myself and not really enjoy what I am reading.

I’m listing a lot of books than I will probably end up reading but that is because I want to give myself a little wiggle room. But I am sticking to the books in THIS tbr.

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller.

I’ve become super interested in Greek history. Namely antiquity. I partly blame this on my Greek history class. This takes place during the Trojan War and tells the famous story Achilles and Patrocolus. I’ve been recommended this by my friends and I always see it on goodreads. So I’m pretty excited to read this! Also this cover is stunning.

Heartless by Marissa Meyer

This is the long awaited new standalone (i believe) by the author of the Lunar Chronicles. I marathoned the Lunar Chronicles this year and I fell in love with Marissa’s writing. This book is a retelling set in Alice in Wonderland but it focus’s on the Queen of Hearts before she became the terror of wonderland. Also I got the owlcrate exclusive cover and oh my gosh it is so beautiful.

The Rose Society and Midnight Star by Marie Lu

I have finally started this series and I am in love with it. I don’t know what these two are about, but they are the second and third book in the Young Elites series. I sort of know what happens in the end and I am very bitter about it, but I will finish this before the end of the year.

The Queen’s Poisoner by Jeff Wheeler

I’ve had my eye on this book for quite a while and I finally have it. The synopsis is a little confusing, but it sounds AMAZING and right up my alley because it is high fantasy.

Rose Blood by A.G Howard

I actually have an arc of this and this book comes out January and this is a retelling of Phantom of the Opera! I was sooo excited to get an arc of this book. I love Phantom especially the movie with Gerard Butler. So to see this being retold is amazing. Because usually retellings are based off fairy-tales so it is nice to see something different.

Crystal Storm by Morgan Rhodes

This is the fifth book in the Fallen Kingdoms series AND I AM BEYOND EXCITED FOR THIS.

So that is it for my December TBR. I plan to stick to it and HOPEFULLY read all of these books!

November tbr!

I cannot believe how fast this year is going everyone. It’s crazy that it is already November! School has been crazy these past two months and it’s starting to dwindle down (thank goodness!) My TBR is quite ambitious this month, but since I have the entire week of Thanksgiving off, I plan on reading a lot! This is in no particular order since I am more of a whim reader (if that is a thing)

Gemina by Jay Kristoff

I started this at the end of October but have yet to finish it, so I definitely intend on finishing it first thing this month! This is the sequal to Illuminae and I guess it sort of takes place directly after the incidents of Illuminae? But it takes place on the Heimdall station with a new set of characters. I believe the characters from the first book do show up though, I am not at that point yet.

The Young Elites + Rose Society by Marie Lu

Image result for young elites rose society

This series is SO hyped up. I always see people talk about it on instagram and twitter, it is always on my goodreads recommendations. TYE is about a girl named Adelina who is the survivor of a blood fever which was a deadly virus that swept through the nation and the children who survived are left with strange marks. Basically from what I gather it is a story about an anti-heroine which is quite rare to read in YA, at least from what I have read. And of course me being me, I went to buy the sequal even though I have yet to read the first book because I’m like that and have to get all the books to a series that I know I will probably love.

Snow like Ashes by Sara Raasch

Another book I see everywhere! Lately (what do I mean by lately, more like always) I have been into high fantasy series or trilogies. I am not so sure what this is actually about and I am not entirely sure how to summarize this, but it has those high fantasy vibes and I am so excited to read this.

The Blazing Star by Imani Josey

This is a book I requested from netgalley because the synopsis sounded absolutely incredible. This is about a girl Portia White who is overlooked by her sister Alex who is a genius. One day in history she touches an Egyptian scarab which makes her better, faster, braver and when she touches it again she wakes up in Egypt along with her sister and another girl. From what I can gather this is a book about finding yourself. So yes, I am pretty excited to read this! This book comes out on December 6 2016. ALSO LOOK AT THAT COVER.

The Diviners by Libba Bray

Image result for THE DIVIners

I fully intended to read this book in October and did not get to it at all. This is another book that is super hyped and I see it everywhere on booktube. This is about a girl named Evie who moves to New York with her uncle who is obsessed with the occult. While she is excited, she is also afraid that he will find out about her dark secret. A murder takes place and Evie finds that her gift could help catch the killer!

Heartless by Marissa Meyer

I am sure this is on almost everyone’s TBR piles for November. I am not sure if this will be a series or a standalone, but this is a brand new retelling about the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland. This is about the Queen of Hearts named Catherine… this is about her life before she became the Queen we are all familiar with. Cath is one of the most desired girls of Wonderland. She is a favorite of the king, yet she has other interests. The king proposes to her but she falls for the court jester (ugh sounds like a bit of a love triangle here but i’ll live) She does not want to offend the king so she and the jester enter into a secret relationship. Regardless if there is a love triangle or not, I am super excited to read this!

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

I wish you guys could see this cover in person because it is incredible. It gold and metallic-ish, it is just beautiful. I love Greek history so much, preferably ancient Greek history. My friend had actually recommended this to me like forever ago and I never thought about picking it up until I was in my Greek history class and we were talking about the Trojan war and the story of Achilles. I was like oh there is a book based off that! And now here we are. I am pretty damn sure this book has LGBTQ+ themes which is like yes, give it all to me please. This is about Achilles and Patroclus and Patroclus is an awkward prince who has been exiled to another court. They become friends and eventually their bond blossoms into something much deeper to the displeasure of Achilles mother. I just, I am so excited to read this.

So yeah here is my very ambitious TBR for November! I do intend on trying to read the majority of these books. Comment below if you have read any of these and what are your thoughts??
